Welcome! My name is Renee Adair and I am from Marquette, Michigan. Thank you for taking the time to visit my education portfolio. I graduated from Northern Michigan University in December of 2013 with a Bachelors degree in elementary education and a concentration in language arts.

I recently accepted a long-term substitute job until the end of the year for a 7th grade language arts teacher at Sangaree Middle School.

I completed a 16-week student teaching placement in a 6th grade classroom at Bothwell Middle School in Marquette, Michigan. Here I taught math, language arts, and life skills. My students there have described me as special, kind, thoughtful, gentle, and fun.

As a child, I looked up to my older cousin who was a teacher. I admired her patience and compassion for others. Also, when I was 7 my younger sister was born. I enjoyed finding fun ways to teach her new things. Both of these experiences led me to choose teaching as a career. However, during the summer of my freshman year at NMU I discovered a true passion for teaching while working at a summer camp for students with special needs. Here I learned just how big of an impact one person can have in a kid's life, and also just how much they can grow in such a short amount of time.

On a more personal level, I have a twin brother and two sisters who live in Virgina, along with my parents. Some of my hobbies are art journaling, crocheting, hiking, rock climbing, and blogging, and I am always looking for the the opportunity to introduce these passions to others.

I am very passionate about teaching and am excited to start my career!

Welcome!
